I have always heard you are contagious up to 24 hours before you get it. It’s going through my family right now and since I saw them over the holidays and yesterday, it’s just a matter of time before I get it.

There are many different viruses that cause flu. Some can be contagious for 14 days prior to manifesting with symptoms. Unless you know when you were exposed to the virus that brought on your symptoms, there is no way to be sure how long you may have been contagious.

Yes, there is a chance that you could contract his illness. Many viruses have a time lapse called an incubation period. During this time you may not have symptoms yet, but the illness is multiplying in your body. You may even feel fine, but can be contagious. Your boyfriend may have given it to you, but he also may not have. Just make sure you rest and eat well to keep a healthy immune system. There’s a big chance you’ll be fine :)
